I have finally after many discussions regarding colour choice finished the dining room benches this week and they are now ready for delivery
They were painted as agreed in white and black but the customer changed their minds and decided on a softer more warming colour from the Farrow and Ball range of colours – Light blue no.22 estate eggshell
I must add i do prefer their choice, somehow white looked a bit crisp and the contrast on the textured wood looked okay but didn’t define the surface enough with the action of the light hitting the surface and this colour choice really does work well, The Farrow and Ball paints are such a pleasure to use and such good quality
The leg assembly’s have been painted using Rustins matt black paint and finished with Liberon iron paste, this is an incredible wax like finish designed really for metal components on open fires such as the grate but i have used this several times before as a finish for wood with great results – it gives a silver black metallic finish which just adds something extra you can’t seem to achieve with conventional paints which you can see in the photos
The finish achieved with the seats using the blowtorch was very pleasing and very textured which makes them different and almost rustic or shabby !

Overall i am very pleased with the final result and i have shared photos with my customer prior to delivery this forthcoming saturday. i’m looking forward to putting them into place for them
